Veola Harris Lewis

She was born February 23, 1924 in Wild Cherry, AR to Hardy Harris and Ollie Moser Harris. Veola and her husband were owners of the Blue Bird Café for many years. She was a member of Hillsboro St. Church of Christ, Ladies No Spouse in the House, and Community Bible Class.

Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Emmett E. Lewis; a son, Danny Lewis; and a step-son, Jack Lewis.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Donna Lewis Nipper and her husband, Victor of El Dorado; grandchildren, Lola Shock and her husband Jacob, Lyndsey Lewis, Pam Cogburn and her husband Lonny, Annette Asper and her husband Jon Jon, Richard Lewis and his wife Vicki, Nina Parson and her husband Blaine; 11 great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; and a friend caregiver, Jewel Turner.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012 in Young’s Chapel with Bro. John Fields officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.

Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
