Vivian became a Christian at the age of 17 in Hinton, West Virginia while living there while her father worked as an Engineer on the Blue Stone Dam.
Vivian was living and working in Albuquerque, New Mexico when she met P.M. (Pete) Tucker, Jr. who was serving in the Air Force at Sandia Base. They began seeing each other and decided to marry. As life sometimes goes, he was transferred to an Air Force base in England before they could marry.
She agreed to travel to England to become his wife and at the age of 21 she boarded a train in Albuquerque and traveled by herself to New York City. There she hired a cab to take her steamer truck to the docks to transfer her belongings to the Queen Mary ocean liner. She checked into a hotel to await the departure of the Queen Mary from New York to Southampton, England. In route the ship encountered a terrible storm on the Atlantic Ocean and all passengers were restricted to their cabins.
Upon arrival in Southampton a young serviceman was waiting with friends to greet his soon to be wife. They married several days later as soon as the ok was given by the base commander in 1952. A year later they welcomed their first and only son into the world at a United States Air Force Base Hospital in Cambridge.
After leaving the Air Force, the family lived in Dallas, Texas for a year. She moved with her new family and Mother and Father-in-Law to El Dorado in December 1956. Vivian worked at the Dr. Pepper Bottling Company which was the family business. She later worked at Samples, M.M. Cohns, for Dr. Benton, DDS, and for many years at the Barton Library. Vivian has been a member of East Main Baptist Church since 1961.
Vivian was also an artist who worked under the name Vivyan. Her interests included history and genealogy and was an active member in the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) El Dorado Chapter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, Jean Stenger (who also was born and died many years later on her birthday), and her in-laws.
Survivors include son Terry Tucker, niece Karen and husband Gerald Cordova, and two nephews Larry and Louis Stoll.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m., Monday, May 11, 2026 in Young’s Chapel followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ryan Huffty officiating. Cremation services entrusted to Young’s Funeral Directors.
