He was born February 11, 1920 in El Dorado to George Alfred McGaugh and Ethel Lawrence McGaugh. He was an Army Air Veteran of WWII. Before retiring William was self-employed as a carpenter and he was a member of the Carpenters Joiner’s Union for over 50 years and a member of First Assembly of God El Dorado, where he was the first recipient of the R.A. Vernon Father’s Day award in 2000.
Preceding him in death are his parents, a son, William Maurice McGaugh, four great-grandchildren, two brothers and five sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Hazel Foster McGaugh; three daughters, Julia Amis and husband Duane, Shirley Bailey and husband Wayne all of El Dorado and Brenda Juckett and husband William of Kingsland, AR; nine grandchildren, Kris Hendryx and husband Tim, Amy Morris and husband Loren, Karin Polk and husband Trenton, Jaclyn Watson and husband Grady, Courtney Sandhu and husband Paul, Rodney Amis and wife Amanda, Jeff Bailey, Jeremy Parker and John Bailey; a brother, Olen “Bo” McGaugh; a sister, Willie Lee McClammy, eleven great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2012 at First Assembly of God El Dorado with Pastor Alan Womack officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012 at the church.
