William Owen Wilson, 82, of Lockhart, LA, passed away on August 29, 2025. Born on April 6, 1943, in Junction City, Arkansas, he lived a life marked by dedication to family, service to country, and a tireless work ethic.
After serving honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, William returned home and married JoAnn Wilson. Their marriage spanned 55 years—a partnership built on love, resilience, and mutual respect. Together they raised a family that became the center of his world.
William was the proud owner of Wilson’s Chevron for 19 years. Known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his community, he built more than just a business—he built relationships that lasted long after he retired. In retirement, William found joy in simpler pursuits: raising chickens, tending to his expansive garden—especially his prized tomatoes that drew visitors from near and far—and coaching youth football and baseball.
He loved hunting and fishing—pastimes that connected him with friends and family.
William is survived by his devoted wife JoAnn Wilson; daughter Kimberly Hodge (Randall); son Kendall Wilson (Jill); grandchildren Kelsie Rogers (Dustin), Kennedy Brantley (Hunter), Kristian Hodge, Keelan Hodge (Laura), Emma Wilson, Finley Wilson, and Grey Wilson; great-grandchildren JoAnna Rogers, John Preston Rogers, Miles Brantley, and Maizy Brantley; brothers Woody Wilson (Helen) and Richard Wilson (Beth); sisters Julia Meador (Freddie) and Judy Carter; sisters-in-law Kay Wilson, Carolyn Courtney, and Nancy Futch; as well as an abundance of nieces and nephews who cherished him deeply.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ocie Lonzo and Virginia Wilson; brothers Marion Wilson (Deanie), Maurice Wilson (Margaret), James Wilson (Nancy), Jarrell Wilson (Betty), J.D. Wilson (Patricia), and Tommy Wilson; sisters Bobbie Orr (Charles), Nancy Ritchey (Carlton), Dorothy Stepp Spooner (Ed Stepp / Charles Spooner); brothers-in-law Louis Carter, John Courtney, and Fred Futch.
William leaves behind a legacy rooted in hard work, devotion to family, service to others, and a deep connection to the land he called home. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
