Adelina M Almanza

Adelina Mendoza Almanza died peacefully on Friday, November 15, 2024, at her home in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Mrs. Almanza was born on April 5, 1935, in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, but from an early age had a strong connection with El Paso, where she completed her education at the Lydia Patterson Institute. She was incredibly talented linguistically and worked for years translating books from Spanish to English and vice versa. Adelina was also a very talented artist and enjoyed painting, as well as being a wonderful cook. Her recipes were and will be enjoyed by her family for years to come.

Adelina Mendoza Almanza married the late Reverend Francisco Almanza on July 30, 1967, in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua. The birth of their son, Francisco soon followed in 1969 as well as their daughter’s Patricia in 1972. Together they served the Lord for many years at Iglesia Bautista Nueva Jerusalem and Iglesia Bautista Trinity of El Paso Texas. Adelina especially enjoyed singing in the church choir as well as teaching Sunday school. Her caring nurture and her servant’s heart made her many friends among her fellow believers and her knowledge of the bible made her an excellent teacher. Adelina was very devoted to the Lord and insisted on living a life that would please him, always.

After both Francisco and Adelina retired from the Baptist Spanish Publishing House in 1998, as well as from the ministry she and her husband realized a lifelong dream and toured the various capitals of Europe, including many cities in Spain, Italy, and Austria. Her favorite city was Florence, Italy, which she described as “a sin to miss.” She also loved music and enjoyed singing hymns and listening to music with her family.

Adelina was a proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother she is survived by her son Francisco (wife Karen Fergurson of Belm, Germany), daughter Patricia (husband Miguel Melendez of El Paso, Texas), granddaughter Nadia Samaniego (husband Chance Santos of Las Cruces, New Mexico), grandson Abraham Samaniego of Las Cruces, New Mexico, granddaughter Victoria Almanza of Belm, Germany and great-granddaughter Ella Rose Santos, also of Las Cruces, New Mexico. Adelina is also survived by one brother, Leopoldo Mendoza, of El Paso, Texas, and many nieces and nephews, from El Paso to northern Mexico. She will be sadly missed.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home East, 1460 George Dieter Dr. El Paso, TX 79936. Funeral will be on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 9:00 at the Martin Funeral Home East in El Paso, Texas. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, December 7, at Restlawn Memorial Park. Following Saturday’s burial, the family will have a gathering in her honor at 4601 Hondo Pass Suite J.

Adelina Mendoza Almanza falleció en paz el viernes 15 de noviembre de 2024 en su hogar en Las Cruces, Nuevo México. La Sra. Almanza nació el 5 de abril de 1935 en Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, pero desde temprana edad tuvo una fuerte conexión con El Paso, donde completó sus estudios en el Instituto Lydia Patterson. Fue muy talentosa en idiomas y trabajó durante años traduciendo libros del español al inglés y viceversa. Adelina también fue una artista talentosa, disfrutaba pintar y era una maravillosa cocinera. Sus recetas fueron, y seguirán siendo disfrutadas por su familia por muchos años por venir.

Adelina Mendoza Almanza se casó con Francisco Almanza (14 de marzo 1933-22 de septiembre 2019) el 30 de julio de 1967 en Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua. De su matrimonio nacieron su hijo Francisco en 1969 y su hija Patricia en 1972. Juntos como pareja sirvieron al Señor en la Iglesia Bautista Nueva Jerusalén y en la Iglesia Bautista Trinity de El Paso Tejas. Fue un gozo para ella servir al Señor por medio del canto, y por medio de la enseñanza. Siempre estuvo a cargo de una clase de escuela dominical en ambas iglesias, su conocimiento de la Biblia fue de gran beneficio para sus estudiantes.

Después de jubilarse de la Casa Bautista de Publicaciones en 1998, Adelina y su esposo realizaron un sueño de toda la vida al recorrer varias capitales europeas, incluyendo muchas ciudades de España, Italia y Austria. Su ciudad favorita fue Florencia, Italia, que describió como “un pecado perdérsela”. También amaba la música, disfrutaba cantar himnos y escuchar música junto a su familia.

Adelina fue una madre, abuela y bisabuela orgullosa. Le sobreviven su hijo Francisco (esposa Karen Ferguson, de Belm, Alemania); su hija Patricia (esposo Miguel Meléndez, de El Paso, Texas); su nieta Nadia Samaniego (esposo Chance Santos, de Las Cruces, Nuevo México); su nieto Abraham Samaniego, también de Las Cruces, Nuevo México; su nieta Victoria Almanza, de Belm, Alemania; y su bisnieta Ella Rose Santos, de Las Cruces, Nuevo México. Además, le sobrevive su hermano Leopoldo Mendoza, de El Paso, Texas, así como numerosos sobrinos, desde El Paso hasta el norte de México. Será profundamente extrañada.

El servicio fúnebre se llevará a cabo el viernes 6 de diciembre de 2024, de 5:00 a 10:00 p.m. en la funeraria Martin (1460 George Dieter Dr. El Paso Texas) y el entierro será el sábado 7 de diciembre de 2024, a las 9:00 a.m.,
