Alejandro “Alex” Oviedo July 8, 1950 – October 19, 2025 Alejandro “Alex” Oviedo, 75, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas, after a courageous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
Born on July 8, 1950, in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, Alex made his home in El Paso, Texas, where he built a life rooted in hard work, faith, and love for his family.Alex was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose love and dedication shaped the lives of those around him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Guadalupe R. Oviedo; his daughters Vanessa Oviedo and Diana M. Cook (son-in-law Jason P. Cook); his cherished grandchildren, Harper E.M. and Grayson F. Cook. He is also survived by his siblings, Lupe Galvez, Lidia Oviedo, Victoria Barajas, Manuel Oviedo, Paulo Oviedo, Sandra Oviedo, and Luis Oviedo, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Mario Oviedo and his parents, Dionicio Cortes Oviedo and Juana Ortega Oviedo.
Alex was known for his great sense of humor, love of comedy and his lifelong passion for cars, music and martial arts. Even after retirement, his strong work ethic and enthusiasm led him to continue working at AutoZone, a job he truly enjoyed because it allowed him to share his knowledge and love for cars while helping others.Alex approached life with discipline, humility, and strength. He was a man of faith who supported San Judas Tadeo Catholic Church and was always the first to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Those who knew him will forever remember his generosity, integrity, and selfless nature.Alex’s grit, resilience, and unwavering dedication to his family have left a lasting legacy. His strength, love, and example will continue to guide and inspire all who were blessed to know him.He will forever be in our hearts.
Visitation will be held on November 7, 2025, from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm with a vigil service at 10:30 am.at Crestview Funeral Home, located at 1462 North Zaragoza Rd, El Paso, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, 12200 Vista Del Sol Drive, El Paso, Texas, at 12:00 pm. The Rite of Committal will follow at Mt Carmel Cemetery, 401 S Zaragoza Rd, El Paso, Texas, at 1:30 pm.
Alejandro will be remembered fondly by his family and friends for his warmth and kindness.
