Alex Bull passed away September 24, 2026 from multiple health issues which he bore courageously, although admittedly not always patiently. He was born and raised in El Paso, and, except for the years in the military service, he resided in his town of origin. In 1973, Alex married his “Scottish Lass”, Carolynne Kirk, after they met in the American Embassy in Tripoli, and theirs was a marriage of love, trust, and commitment. He never fully recovered from her death in July 2025.
Alex was a proud retired U.S. Marine (Semper Fi!), a Viet Nam Veteran, and a member of the VFW. After retirement, he earned a degree in Criminology from UTEP and then served diligently in the El Paso Probation and Parole Department until his retirement. Alex was an ardent Dallas Cowboys football fan who tolerated no interruptions of TV games and who faithfully continued to hold out hope for a return to a winning season. Alex was also an avid reader and a lover of travel.
Alex was preceded in death by his wife, Carolynne, his parents, Alex and Myrtle Bull, his brother Thomas Bull, and his aunt, Claire Francis. He is survived by his sister, Dr. Julia Kleinschmidt of Salt Lake City, his niece Ann Karen (Ben) Johnson of Roseville, MI, his nephew, John (Marie) Kleinschmidt of Salt Lake City, and his longtime caregiver, Luz Gonzalez.
A graveside gathering will be held Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 10 am, at the Ft. Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Wilson Ave.
