We gather to remember Alexander Hidalgo Jr., born January 31, 1949, in El Paso, Texas. Alex lived a life full of color, grit, and unforgettable moments. He grew up surrounded by a large, loving Hidalgo family who helped guide him through the good times and the wild ones. From Mickey and Chuck, Alex Hidalgo Sr., Margie Conver Angelo, Uncle Ruben & Sharon, Tito Hidalgo, Alfonso “Kiki” Hidalgo, Grandma Maria Hidalgo, Yolanda, Pilar, Chelo, Robert Sr. and Robert, Marie Teresa Hidalgo, Carlos, the Layette family, Josefina Gomez Torres, and many more — every one of them shaped a piece of who Alex became.

Alex worked in several trades, especially the flooring industry, where he left his mark with determination and a style all his own. He wasn’t an angel — and that was part of the charm. Alex was often the wild card, the one who kept everyone on their toes. You never knew what he might say, but somehow it always sparked laughter. His jokes, his blunt honesty, and his unpredictable humor were trademarks we will never forget.

While Alex lived differently than most, he lived authentically. His stories, his mischief, and his loud personality will continue to echo through all of us who had the privilege of knowing him.

As we reflect on his life, let us embrace the beautiful memories, the tough moments, and everything in between. This is life — imperfect but meaningful. Our family legacy lives on through our shared stories, our unity, and our love for one another.
