Alfonso Anchondo Jr.

Alfonso Anchondo Jr., age 89, of El Paso, Texas passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2025. He is survived by his six children: Edna Rivas, Robert Anchondo, David Anchondo, Fernando Anchondo, Monica Rivera, and Christina Anchondo; along with 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Alfonso proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and later worked as a supervisor at Weaver Scopes. He went on to dedicate six years to education as a teacher at Austin High School, where he supported students in the computer lab and left a lasting impact on many young lives.

His service didn’t stop at work—he was deeply devoted to his faith and gave generously of his time through the Colonia Ministry and the Eucharistic Ministry. He was a devoted son, a loving husband, a proud grandfather, a faithful servant of Christ, and above all, a father to all.

Public visitation will be held at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 N Carolina Dr, El Paso, TX 79915, on July 1st at 5:00 PM, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 PM.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mark Catholic Church, 11700 Pebble Hills Blvd, El Paso, TX 79936, on July 2nd at 12:00 PM.

Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery, 401 S Zaragoza Rd, El Paso, TX 79907, at 1:30 PM.
