Alfonso Lujan (Poncho) 80, died Saturday, June 28, 2014 in El Paso, Texas. His was a sudden death after a major fall in his home. Alfonso retired from Raytheon Service Co. in 1986 as a radar mechanic. He traveled throughout Europe and the Middle East during his work career. Alfonso was an avid athlete and participated in baseball leagues from young adulthood through his senior years. His other hobby was helping pit crews at the El Paso Speedway Park. Alfonso is preceded in death by his mother: Isidora Lujan; brother: Martin Lujan and sister: Gloria Ortega. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Julia Lujan, his children: Imelda Lujan (Shawn), Gloria Lujan, Laura Dominguez (Rene) and Samuel Lujan; four grandchildren: Michael Ramirez, Aaron Dominguez, Marisa O’Donnell and Angela O’Donnell; great-grandchildren: Nya Ramirez and Dominic Dominguez; sister: Mary Lujan and her children: Esteban and Grace. Goodbye may seem forever. Farewell is like the end, but in our hearts is the memory and there you will always be. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 pm on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Hillcrest Funeral Home-Carolina with a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be at 12:00 noon Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
