Al was born November 2, 1943, in Los Angeles, CA and moved to El Paso, TX as a young child. He attended Burges High School through his junior year and after successfully completing his GED equivalency test, enlisted in the United States Navy in 1964. Al served his country well, including a tour in Vietnam and received an honorable discharge in 1967.
In the 70’s & 80’s, Al was an active member in the Crescendo Civic Club, a charitable organization that raised money to help low-income students with college tuition and other costs associated with higher
learning. Al was a real estate agent and broker for several years before becoming a small business owner with “Al’s Pro Shop” at Bowl El Paso. He was a staple in the bowling community for over 30 years as an accomplished bowler, winning numerous tournaments and was a sought-after teammate, not only for his skill but for his fun, easy going and likable personality as well.
Al loved nothing better than to spend time with family and friends, especially if it included a Dallas Cowboy game. He was a lifelong basketball fan, Los Angeles Lakers and San Antonio Spurs being his favorite teams. He was also an avid supporter of UTEP athletics. He rarely missed a home football game
in the 80’s & 90’s.
Everyone who knew Al knew he had a heart of gold. Though he will be greatly missed, he lives on in our
hearts.
