Alice Haddad Aboud born on December 1, 1921 to Jamoul and Abraham Haddad in Juakhait, Syria passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 surrounded by her four daughters. When she was five, the family emigrated to Juarez, Mexico then to El Paso where her father owned Yandell Market.

Because she was not fluent in English, she was placed in the first grade at age 10. Not to be deterred, she graduated valedictorian from EPHS at the age of 17. Rather than take advantage of several college scholarships she married Abdala Aboud in 1940 owner of General Furniture Store. Upon the untimely death of her mother, Alice became the matriarch to her younger siblings. She became known for her cooking among the Syrian community, raising six children with a strong work ethic instilling in them the value of education.

Approaching her sixties, Alice helped her daughters make Margaret's Fashions a 25 year old successful business. Alice Haddad Aboud is living testimony to "where there is a will, there is a way"…in any language. Preceded in death by husband Abdala, son George, daughter Patricia Randazzo, sisters Mary Malooly, Regina Haddad, and brother Tony Haddad, Survived by daughters Susan Dudley (Parus), Leila Safi, (Jorge), Carolyn Rhoades, Margaret Aboud, sisters Sarah Safi, Frieda Aboud, Katy Davis, brother Leo Haddad, 13 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews who adored their Aunt Alice.

Dearest Aunt Alice, I speak to your spirit here, first, I want you to know what an example of grace, strength, and generosity of word/s and spirit you were during my lifetime. Often quiet, you said little, but when you said it, you meant it, I remember every kind word you ever said to me, and I remember the last real visit at the table, after dear Uncle Tony had passed, and how you insisted I eat at least one more piece of everything, and how you sent Margaret to the freezer for more, as there was one item you had forgotten, and I said, we have enough here, and you continued to instruct her to bring it, and you insisted that I have one, two, three pieces and more......you and Amo Abdallah were great crowns we wore on our heads, Araboo he was to so many, and anytime we went to your house, I remember a pot of grapeleaves on the stove, or you about to prepare them. May God bless you always. My deepest condolences to the entire family, may your soul rest in the greatest of peace.
