Alice Marie Nichols, 92, of El Paso, Texas, passed away June 23, 2026 in her home, surrounded by her family. She was born in Sioux City, Iowa on March 15, 1934 to L.D. Dickens and Marie McFadden. Alice graduated from Heelan Catholic High School.
She married the love of her life, Russell Nichols, on February 4, 1955 and they enjoyed 60 beautiful years together. Alice was an agent with the railroad for over 20 years, a restaurant owner in Iowa, and recruiter with Snelling/DM Dickason in El Paso where she won numerous awards for her recruitment. She was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic church and was active in the Ladies Guild and the church choir.
Alice had a brilliant mind with a passion for reading and was a whiz at crossword puzzles. She was strong in her faith & kind to everyone she met. She had a fun sense of humor, loved helping others and formed many lasting friendships. Above all, she was a devoted wife and loving mother.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband Russell, her parents, brother and sister. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Anne Nichols, Kathleen (Stacy) McNeil; stepdaughters Margene (Ron) Swenson, Vicky Nichols, and her six grandchildren.
Services have been entrusted to Martin Funeral Home West, 128 N Resler Dr., El Paso, TX 79912. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 6, from 5 – 8 pm, with rosary at 6 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am Tuesday, July 7, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 1551 Belvidere Street. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of the Valley Cemetery.
