January 26, 1920 – July 13, 2018
Alpharetta Clark was born in the small coal-mining town of Covington, Virginia, to Rose Arlena O’Neal Carter and David Houston Carter. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of July 13, 2018.
She is survived by her two sons, Walter Brent Clark (Wondia) and Dr. Michael Eric Clark (Elaine); her sister Patricia Stone; grandchildren Sherry Napier (Gary) and James Clark; great grandchildren Austin Napier and Kendall Napier. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Walter Pierce Clark.
Alpharetta was Valedictorian of her graduation class at Covington High School and she spent many Sunday mornings teaching Sunday School at church. She taught her sons throughout her life that the key to knowing peace and happiness was to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
Alpharetta was a good hearted person who strongly believed in the power of prayer and faith. She generously donated to charities and those in need. Family allegiance was extremely important to her. In her heart, family came first, last, and always.
Alpharetta was very intelligent and she had an amazing photographic memory, but she knew what really mattered was what you learned after you thought you knew it all.
Before she and her husband “Corky” moved to El Paso in 1980, she was the part owner and manager of an apartment complex in Brandon, Florida. In El Paso, she managed and owned a quadruplex apartment for the remaining 38 years of her life.
She always kept her front door open for anyone who needed help or was down on their luck. She became a life-long friend of those lucky enough to have known her.
