God breathed life into a baby on September 17, 1992, in El Paso, Texas, and named her Amanda Ann-Elise Ortega. She lived up to the meaning of her name, “Much Loved,” and we were gifted with the blessing of her presence.
Amanda loved music and fashion, sketching/coloring, and was a movie quote expert. She was versed in classical literature and had a fascination for history. She loved her dogs, dolphins and killer whales, and the sanctuary for wild cats in Mexico, with snow leopards as her favorite.
What began through playing superheroes later developed into a career choice, as she was working towards becoming a real life hero in the Intelligence Field. Amanda was also a lover of life, who looked at the world with child-like wonder and thus, Disneyland was a favorite destination. She had Scripture read to her from within the womb until the day she slept. She taught Bible study and piano camps to children, and participated in several overseas mission trips to Mexico, the Philippines, Spain, and Morocco. She loved to travel and see the world, with trips to Germany and Cuba as of late, and had many adventures with her mother, from west coast Grand Canyon to Yellowstone, to the historical trips of the East coast from Florida up to New Hampshire.
Amanda was home-schooled , graduated valedictorian, and began college classes at the age of 15. She graduated in 2014 from Patrick Henry College in Purcellville, Virginia, and won national awards with her mock trial team. She interned in politics and law, and pursued her Master Degree in the field of Intelligence.
Most importantly, she loved her mother, grandparents, cousins, doggie Spirit, and her God. He declared her a good and faithful servant because she accomplished her purpose-that of love so deep, that she gave her life when she birthed her sons, James Robert and Jude Michael Ortega.
Now you will be loved perfectly Amanda, with a joy that is complete. May your life be a testimony to great love, stemming from His great love, and may your legacy of love and faith live on with your sons for generations to come. I will breathe in your name, and breathe out “I love you” until the day I join you, my daughter, Baby Mine, my forever beautiful Amanda.
“For there is no greater love than this, to lay down your life for a friend…” Jn 15:13
