Amparo Bautista passed away peacefully on Friday, November 25, 2022, at the age of 94. Amparo is survived by her children: Pat Roddey (Frank), Alice Sanchez (Andy), Norma Rose (Jim), Grace Maldonado (Fred) and Nancy Ramirez (Fred); 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and a great granddaughter due soon; and sisters, Consuelo Hernandez, Socorro Garcia and Doris Ortiz. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Rodrigo R. Bautista; her siblings: Manuel Garcia, Elias Garcia, Arturo Garcia, Jose Garcia, Jesus Garcia and Maria Luisa Garcia; and her beloved grandson, Christopher Maldonado.
Amparo was the beloved matriarch of our family and will be greatly missed by us all. We all adored her and relished her company. She was a great cook and enjoyed feeding her extended family and friends. No one ever went hungry at her house! Also, our mother was the life of the party. She loved to laugh and often had us all in stiches!
The things that were most important to Amparo were her faith and family. Pre-pandemic, she would rarely miss mass on Sunday, and it was her tradition to always give a blessing to all her loved ones at the end of a visit, including her adult children. Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Her passions were dancing and traveling. Growing up, we would go as a family to dances at the Coliseum and dancing was often a part of our family celebrations. She also enjoyed listening to Spanish music and her radio was always on! She loved exploring new places, trying new foods and visiting family wherever they were.
Visitation is Monday, December 5, 2022 from 5-9 pm with a rosary recited at 7 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Restlawn Chapel. Mass will be held Tuesday, December 6 at 12:00 pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe, followed by interment at 1:30 pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
