Known to all as Becky, Ana R. Sterling (64) passed away on February 12, 2019. A loving wife, mother, abuelita, sister, and aunt, Becky touched and inspired the lives of not only her family, but of the countless students she educated throughout her 37-year teaching career.
Born to Bertha and Enrique Valdez, Becky was the youngest of six siblings. After graduating from Jefferson High School, she attended UTEP where she earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees.
Becky met her beloved husband, Richard Sterling, in high school, but they didn’t date until after she had begun her teaching career. Married for 40 years they had one son, Richard, Jr.
Becky loved to spend time with her family, watch films, and care for her extended family of countless cats and dogs. She was passionate about sheltering animals that needed care and was always there to lend a helping hand.
Becky is survived by her husband Richard, their son Richard Jr., his wife Danielle Franco, grandson Ignacio, sisters Yolanda Noriega and Lupe Bujanda and brother Eduardo Valdez.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 17, 2019 from 5PM – 9PM at Hillcrest Funeral Home - Carolina, with a Rosary at 7PM. Funeral mass will be held on Monday, February 18 at 930AM at Our Lady of the Valley Church, followed by interment at Evergreen Cemetery East on Montana.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to The Humane Society of El Paso.
