Andrea N. Lara

Andrea (Andy) N. Lara passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. She is survived by her children: Victoria (Rusty, †) Lummus, Esperanza (John) Swint, Nicolas Lara, and Rogelio (Lucy) Lara. She also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will carry on her legacy of love and resilience.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Santos and Pedro Nuñez, her six siblings,her beloved grandson Rogelio Lara Jr., and her son-in-law Rusty Lummus. Andy worked at The Popular department store from 1959 until her retirement in 1995, earning several awards for excellence in sales. In her retirement, she co-founded the senior social club Recuerdo, which organized community events to fund scholarships for stu- dents at Bowie High School—an effort close to her heart.

A devout Catholic, Andy was a devoted mother and a loyal friend. Her strength, warmth, and unwavering generosity touched all who knew her. During her illness, she was lovingly cared for by her son Nicolas Lara and her dedicated caregivers, Dora Merano and Juana Mondragón.

A visitation for Andrea will be held Thursday, July 10, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Martin Funeral Home East, 1460 George Dieter Drive, El Paso, TX 79936. A funeral service will occur Friday, July 11, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at St Ignatius of Loyola Parish, 408 Park St, El Paso, TX 79901. A graveside service will occur Friday, July 11, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Mt Carmel Cemetery, 401 S Zaragoza Rd, El Paso, TX 79907.
