Angela Lynn Isbell was born in Flagstaff, Arizona on October 7, 1968 and passed from this life peacefully in El Paso, Texas after a lengthy illness on January 20, 2025. She was the beloved daughter of Clara and Clarence Isbell, and they were blessed to welcome her, the youngest of their 10 children into their large and loving family on their 18th wedding anniversary.
She loved her son Eric dearly and he was always in her thoughts and prayers. He was her pride and joy. In her youth Angela was a talented gymnast and performed impressive flips and dance on floor routines as well as on the balance beam. Her medals were a proud reminder of her accomplishments.
She loved to swim and also enjoyed attending minor league baseball games, both in Albuquerque (the Isotopes!) and El Paso (the Chihuahuas!). She had a keen ability to understand and explain baseball game strategy. She was a devoted dog lover and had small dogs her entire life, Misty, Shasta, and JoJo among others. She enjoyed them and they were always a comfort to her. She loved animals and enjoyed visits to the zoo to admire God’s animal kingdom.
In 1980 Angela moved from Flagstaff with her parents to Roswell, New Mexico and graduated from Goddard High School in 1986. Angela was employed for a time as a caregiver and after furthering her education, she obtained her lab technician certification. She was employed at several area hospitals as a phlebotomist. She enjoyed her patients and always made friends wherever she found herself. Her sense of humor and distinctive laughter filled the room even in the midst of suffering. She enjoyed humor in jokes, stories and life in general. Angela had a love of music and singing, dancing to the beat with enthusiasm. She also learned to play the violin and “got pretty good at it”.
Her friendliness and compassion in life found her developing an affinity for the underprivileged of this world. This was evident in her special connection with Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta as she chose her saintly name as “Teresa” when she received the Sacrament of Confirmation within the Catholic Church. She trusted God, and prayed for all her friends and family, asking often about them, even during her own severe health struggles.
Angela is preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Clara Isbell, a sister, Kathleen Grace Isbell, and a brother-in-law, Max Tappero. She is survived by her son, Eric, and 8 siblings, Mary (Jerry) Fussell, Jesse (Cheryl) Isbell, Barbara (Paul Bahlinger), Marvin (Cynthia) Isbell, Jeannette Tappero, Christopher (Nancy) Isbell, Glenn (Danna) Isbell, and Gloria (Bill) Wier. She is also survived by two uncles, Anthony Zabava and Tony Velasquez as well as a multitude of nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Assertive Community Treatment team in Albuquerque for all their help over the years and also to her caregivers.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Albuquerque Joy Junction center at joyjunction.org.
Angela’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Roswell, NM on Thursday February 27, 2025, with prayers and Rosary starting at 1:30pm, Holy Mass at 2:00pm, followed by interment and reception. The Requiem Prayer; Eternal Rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
