Arthur O. Brieden passed away peacefully on May 19, 2018. Born in El Paso on February 17, 1924. He was preceded in death by parents Otto S. Brieden and Augusta A. Blatz, and by his wife June Edens Brieden, and her son Richard Edens. Arthur’s siblings who preceded him in death were Marie Biediger, Lucille Hoard, Otis Brieden, and Raymond Brieden.
He is survived by Edith Edens McAlanis, William Edens (Patricia), Paula Edens Davis (David), and Gregory Edens (Karen), and thirteen grandchildren and thirty-one great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Katherine Brieden Calderon, Raymond Brieden Jr., Otis G. Brieden Jr., Carolyn White, and Deacon Douglas Biediger. Arthur graduated from Austin High School in 1942. He is a World War II veteran having proudly served in the U.S. Navy in the Asian Pacific campaign aboard the U.S.S. Renshaw. He received a degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas Western College in 1952 and was employed by the El Paso Natural Gas Company until his retirement in 1983.
He was known as a good and caring man, who often put the needs of others ahead of his own. He was a member of St Raphael’s Catholic Church and was especially devoted to the recitation of the Rosary. He will be missed by all of his family, friends, and faithful caregivers.
A Rosary will be said Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 11:30am with memorial mass to follow at 12:30pm at St. Raphael Catholic Church. Interment will be in Fort Bliss National Cemetery with military honors.
