My grandma, "grandma mickey", I can still hear her voice and it makes me smile. My memory of her is still very fresh, the look on her face when she saw me recently when my mom and I visited her in the hospital. A look of surprise followed by a big smile and that laugh that i loved...and once again like i did many times as a child, i walked into her open arms and gave her a big hug. She was unchanging to me for the longest time.  She  made me forget about the undiscriminating effects of time because she always seemed to have a way of bouncing back and shaking off adversity concerning her health. When i see her in my mind and in my heart, i see her laughing and effervescent...i see her doing her "water aerobics" in the bracketville pool while i swam circles around her like a shark, THRILLED that i had just learned how to swim on that trip! I  see her gardening while i "drove" around in the red wagon that she used to carry her plants in. 
Sharing a patio swing with her one evening as we just rocked and relaxed, the whole family talking and laughing and just enjoying that time together. She,  drinking her favorite reunite wine and i, sipping on a ginger ale. That night is captured in my heart. My  grandfather, my grandma and my dad...so full of life then, and now, they are reunited again in what i can only imagine was a joyous homecoming!  I can see them now just the same way that i saw them back then and it makes me smile. A new life. One that time can never erase.

DEAR MICKEY, I MISS YOU ALREADY.  I MISS THE SOUND OF YOUR VOICE, YOUR SENSE OF HUMOR, YOUR POSITIVE OUTLOOK ON ALL SITUATIONS, NO MATTER HOW DIFFICULT THEY SEEMED TO ANYONE ELSE.  THERE IS NOW A HUGH VOID IN OUR LIVES.  PLEASE GIVE A HUG TO DEAR OLD DAD AND A KISS TO MY HUSBAND FRED.  I LOVE YOU.

To the family of my Mom, I want you all to know that she cherished each and every one of you.  To Rose and Beto, you'll never know how much she  enjoyed those shopping trips ! To Irma and Robert, the visits and phone calls meant the world to her. Mom loved each and every member of the immediate and extended family. There are too many names to mention but all of you were/are appreciated.  To all of the grandkids, thanks so much for always staying in touch with Mom. She appreciated every phone call, card and photo that came her way. To our dearest neighbors Julie, Effie and Rosita, thanks for always being close by and checking on Mom. I promised Dad I would take care of her until she died and I hope I did a good job.  I have to make my own coffee (who does that, Mom always made the coffee !!!) and now I will have to watch the novelas without her.  We had a great system here and the only issue we ever had was over the thermostat in the house !  I'll tend to her beautiful yard  and take care of the dogs. They are lost without her. Mom was very proud of the military background of this family.  Please support our active duty military when possible. Mom was an exceptionally kind woman with a huge, generous heart. She did not judge anyone. She will be deeply missed.  Thanks to all of you.    Kathy
