

McChesney, Barbara Rose “Bobbie”, 86, passed away very peacefully on September 10, 2013. She was born in Mt. Carmel, IL on March 23, 1927 to Grant and Helen McTaggart. She is preceded in death by her parents, her little sister Jean Ann Ahlfeld, her brother-in-law Clyde Ahlfeld , her nephew Jack Swain, and her niece Kristin Swain. She is survived by her sister Norma Swain and her brother-in-law Randall Swain; her children and their spouses: Mickey (Betsy) McChesney, Don (Erika) McChesney, Terry (Ruth) McChesney, John (Connie) McChesney and Kitty (Quito) Rayas; her grandchildren and their spouses: Kevin (Ashley) McChesney, Chris McChesney, Megan McChesney, Cheyenne McChesney, Patricia Lozano McChesney, Lorraine McChesney, Steven McChesney, Robbie Rayas, Sonny (Marcela) Rayas, Frank Rayas, and Daniel Rayas; her great-grandaughters: Bella Rayas and Faith Rayas; and many extended family members.
Education was very important to Bobbie. She graduated from Mt. Carmel High School and received a BA in Primary Education from Evansville University. She worked hard to earn her education and shared her knowledge with many children. Bobbie was a teacher with EPISD for over twenty years, with the majority of her time teaching 4th to 6th grades at Henderson and Travis. She always found opportunities to teach, whether with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cub scouts, Sunday school class or any child she encountered. She enjoyed many years of being active with the Episcopal Church, most especially with the Daughters of the King, the Cursillo Ministry and the Order of St. Luke healing program. She enjoyed her life as a military wife with her late ex husband Jim and traveling to various stations with her family.
A Memorial Eucharist will be held for Bobbie, with the Rev. Robert Gross officiating, at 4pm on Sunday, September 15, 2013, at St. Francis on the Hill Episcopal Church, 6280 Los Robles Drive, El Paso, TX. 79912. A reception will follow in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Francis on the Hill Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, in her name. Services entrusted to Martin Funeral Home West, 128 N.
