Thank you Chita and Amada.  My mother was a loving, caring, intelligent, educated, funny, professional, cheerful, optimistic, friendly, confident and completely positive lady all her life. I NEVER saw her in a bad mood; I only her positive and friendly self everywhere with everyone she met. Even grumpy people would add a smile when they felt her positive charge.

She didn't do a "nursing job" - caring for people was who she was. As a 4 or 5 yr. old boy, I would tag along with her when she visited elderly ladies, caring for them and laughing with them on her days off.

A young bed- and wheelchair bound friend of hers had been given a short time to live by doctors. My mother started seeing her every day after work and on days off, nursing her and no doubt telling her hilarious stories. Soon, her friend was getting around by herself on her wheelchair, and shortly after that she began walking with her cane. One day, my mother got home early, and I asked why she wasn't with her friend. She said her friend had to do some shopping and run some errands. I asked how she got there, and she told me she drove herself. Her friend went on to live a much longer and "normal" life than anyone expected.

One day at dinner time, we heard a knock on the front door.  My mother and I went to answer, and a lady told us (in spanish) that she was hungry and thirsty. My mother ran off to the kitchen. I stayed at the front door with the lady, and my mother returned with a box of 3 full hot plates of enchiladas, sides, drinks and utensils. I can still see the stunned and gracious look on the lady's face.

My mother was often hilarious. like shouting TOSHDOWN!! after a hometown pro batter hit a homerun on a family night at the ball park. She was a lifetime student, enrolled in college from my first memories, and ended when she added a Bach/Sci degree near age 60. She was an all A student. Diana has my mother's "Last Supper" painting on a wall.

I truly believe my mother was a gift.

To the Castillo family, 
Our beloved sister Beatrice is now in heaven, may she rest in peace.. We share in this time of grief, but also share in the love and many memories she left with millions of lives she touched. She will always be remembered as a women of character, intelligent, and strong will. Her family values were immeasurable for she so much affectionally loved the memories of family reunions. Beatrice was the cornerstone of righteousness, a strong leader, a super intelligent women and a devoted adviser. Whether you wanted to hear it or not she would always give you the “does and don’ts”  the choice was yours but as she always stated (one day you will thank me if you take my advise), Beatrice will be missed by her loving family. May there be comfort in knowing that someone so special will never be forgotten.

Uncle Joe, Diana & Joe Michael, I am so sorry for your loss. I will always remember my aunt Beatrice as a smart, intelligent and happy woman.  She really loved being around her family and it showed every time we got together. My prayers are with you all.
