It is with deep sorrow that we share with you the loss of Benjamin Martinez. Benjamin has departed to our God’s home and in doing so has left an irreplaceable void in our lives. We know that those who knew him had him in high regard for his big heart, generous spirit, and always willing to extend a helping hand.
Benjamin was a life-long resident of Canutillo, TX. He was preceded in death by his Father, Rafael M. Martinez. Benjamin is survived by his Mother, Celia Alcala. Son: Richard Martinez, Daughters: Vanessa M. Hollmann and Aryana Martinez. Sisters: Belinda Gutierrez (Peter), Sylvia Ancira (Santiago), and Sally Martinez Coronado. Brothers: Ralph Martinez, Jr. (Carmen), and Mark Martinez, 5 grandchildren, 13 nephews and nieces.
Benjamin had a diverse career and was very much a self-made man. He began by working hard in labor positions with Portland Cement Company and Western Refining; he was also a successful top rated salesman with a national company and later a local company. In 1993 he decided to start his own business, and from the ground up “Mesilla Valley Meat Processing” became a viable option for farmers, ranchers, and hunters, from far and wide. The threat of mad cow disease adversely affected the plant and out of Benjamin’s passionate commitment a new business emerged “Far West Depot”.
Benjamin’s tragic death is very hard to grasp. Blessed are all who honor Benjamin by how he lived and how he touched each of our lives. God is all knowing, all loving, and all forgiving. Visitation will be Friday, June 12, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home-Doniphan with Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 13 2015 at Calvary Chapel Sun City, 960 West Borderland Rd. 79932.
