Beverly grew up in Salt Lake until age 13 when her family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico and later to Amarillo, Texas. She graduated from Amarillo High School and took a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Beverly also pursued a Masters in Business Administration at the University of New Mexico and later at the University of Texas in El Paso.
After moving with her family to El Paso, Beverly worked in social services until marrying Joel Theodore Cottle in 1938. Beverly’s focus then switched to being a wife, homemaker, and mother to three daughters. She was a dedicated participant in her children’s schools and the PTAs. Throughout the years, she also remained a history buff and enjoyed dabbling in many art mediums, having taken classes from a number of teachers through the years.
Beverly was active in several volunteer movements and greatly enjoyed the social life of various women’s groups, including the El Paso Women’s Club, Tri Delta Sorority Alumni Association, and the American Association of University Women. She was a member of the AO Chapter PEO Sisterhood for 72 years.
Beverly will be remembered for her love of family, cooking and her garden. She had a wonderful zest for life and her unflagging spirit to enjoy every minute of every day. There was never an outing that she didn’t want to attend, and never a bridge or bingo game she didn’t want to play, even in her later years.
Beverly was preceded in death in death by her husband J. Ted Cottle, daughter Carole Cottle, and son-in-law Thomas Clements. She is survived by two daughters, Beverly Clements and Nancy Stoltzman; six grandchildren, Clint Clements (Jennifer), Greg Clements, Aimee Britt (Terry), Kelley Keller (Christian), Stacy Stoltzman, and Ted Stoltzman (Molly); three great-grandchildren, Pierce Stoltzman, Lena Stoltzman, and Hollis Stoltzman. She will also be greatly missed by her long time caretaker and friend Francisca Medina as well as her son-in-law Ben Stoltzman.
The family would like to express love and appreciation to the entire staff of Regency of El Paso, and Hospice of El Paso with special thanks to Willie, Rosa Linda, Isabel, Carmen and Belen to name a few of the attentive people who took care of Beverly toward the end of her life.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Western Hills United Methodist Church, 524 Thunderbird Drive.
