

(1932 – 2025)
Carlos Mendoza, age 92, peacefully passed away among his loving family on May 4, 2025, after a brief but courageous battle with lung cancer. Born on November 5, 1932, to Jose and Gregoria Mendoza, he shared 61 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved late wife, Carmen Beltran.
Carlos was a dedicated father to Fernando (and his spouse Sandy DeVerney-Mendoza) and Chris (and his spouse Liz Teahan-Mendoza), and a proud grandfather to Elizabeth, Jacquelyn, Lauren, and Lorenzo; and, a great-grandfather to Juliette and Odette Medina. He is survived by his twin brother David and youngest brother Roberto, as well as his sisters-in-law Bertha Mendoza and Irene Saenz, many dear friends, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Joe, Richard, and his sister Lydia Clarkston.
A proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Carlos was also an accomplished athlete at Jefferson High School, class of 1952, where he lettered in multiple sports. His passion for sports later evolved into a lifelong love of golf, receiving various awards and enjoyed the game for nearly 50 years.
For over three decades, Carlos dedicated himself to Civil Service, working as a cinematographer and studio photographer at White Sands Missile Range and the Army Air Defense Board. Throughout his life, he was known for his selflessness, always prioritizing his family’s needs and embodying strength, leadership, and love.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at Hillcrest Funeral Home on Sunday, June 1st, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with a Rosary service @ 5:00 PM. Interment will be held at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery on Monday, June 2nd, at 11:00 AM. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at Guardian Angel Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 3rd at 10:00 am. Carlos’s legacy of love, resilience, and service will never be forgotten and forever be cherished.
