

Carmen Armendáriz , 91, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2015. She was born on September 18, 1923 in Durango, Mexico. Carmen came to this country with her parents Jose Garcia and Maria L. Garcia and four siblings. She was 10 months old. She has lived in El Paso ever since. She is survived by her son, Richard Armendáriz (Martha), Cesar Armendáriz (Frances), and Diana Guerrero. Carmen has seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces. Surviving siblings include Rosa Mata, Eva Sanchez, Emilio Garcia, Anna Richards, Amelia Garcia (Hector), Emma Garcia (Armando), and Mague Garcia (Luis). Carmen is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel D. Armendáriz. She is also preceded in death by her siblings: Elena Beltran, Aurora Lopez, Esperanza Luna, Hector Garcia, Armando Garcia, Luis Garcia, and Lucy Zamora. Carmen had a long career in health care. She worked at Hotel Dieu Hospital, Providence Memorial Hospital as a Unit Clerk. Later, she worked at Newark Maternity Hospital for fifteen years in charge of medical records. She had various duties at her work places. Her work was her passion. The family would like to give a special thanks to Msgr. Arturo Bañuelas. A special thanks also to the staff at Pebble Creek Nursing home. Pallbearers will be Richard Armendáriz, Cesar Armendáriz Sr., Cesar Armendáriz Jr., Sal Guerrero, D. J. Barron, and Agustin Ortega. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 9:00 on Monday, May11, 2015 at Hillcrest Funeral Home-Carolina with Vigil at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be held at 12:15pm on Tuesday, May12, 2015 at St. Mark Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery.
