Carmen Patricia Zubia peacefully left this world to join our departed loved ones during the Holy Hour on Friday April 22nd. Carmen loved her family and friends and was her beautiful, spirited self to the last day. She was surrounded by family and made everyone smile and laugh as she always does. As someone who always put others first, many of her dreams were achieved by her children with her loving support. Carmen got to experience many wonderful things in her life and wishes you all get to do the things in life she didn’t get around to. Her favorite goodbye was “I love you, always forever, near or far”. She was preceded in death by her parents Juan Isidro Montoya & Laurencia Bolivar Montoya, and adoptive father Robert Flores. She is survived by her loving husband Raul Zubia; children Raul Jr., Chris (Katie), and Jessica Lopez (David); the loves of her life, grandchildren Autumn and Nathaniel Zubia, and Luke Lopez (on his way!); sisters Ofelia Garcia, Lisa Dailey, and Irene Balvin; brothers Albert Montoya and Bob Flores; second mother Ramona Flores. Carmen had many close friends that she loved who were like family and were there for her in her life. Carmen and her family want to thank all the Clergy, doctors, nurses, medical staff, and those who prayed for her, which helped her get ten more wonderful years during her cancer battle. If you knew Carmen, you know she loved flowers, but she always said the beauty of flowers should be enjoyed by those who could admire them and breath in their fragrance. Therefore, in lieu of flowers she requested you send a donation to the St. Jude’s Children Hospital. A Vigil will be held at Hillcrest Funeral Home on Wednesday April 27th at 6 PM followed by a Rosary at 7 pm and finally a Funeral Mass at Santa Teresita Catholic Church in El Paso on Thursday April 28th at 2 PM.
