

The funeral service will be held at 6:00 PM Friday September 1 at Martin West Funeral Home Chapel. Joe Urrutia Hospice Chaplin will be officiating. Reception to be held following the service at her Granddaughter’s home. Burial will follow the funeral at the Ebenezer Cemetery in Jacksonville, Illinois at a later date.
Carolyn was born in St. Louis, MO on October 4, 1928. She graduated from Kirkwood High School and continued on to receive a Bachelors of Business
Administration from University of Texas at El Paso at the age of 55.
Carolyn was married to William George Houston on December 23, 1948; they were married 56 years at Bill’s passing.
Carolyn bought her own business, Tumbleweed Travel, El Paso Texas following her graduation from college and ran the business for 10 years. She enjoyed her bridge clubs, tennis and golf. She was also a concert violinist at the Kirkwood Missouri Symphony Orchestra and actively involved in her church.
Carolyn is survived by her son David William Houston and daughter Kathleen Houston Cruz, four granddaughters, two grandsons and six great grandsons.
Carolyn is preceded in death by husband William George Houston, two sons, Daniel George Houston and Joseph Michael Houston.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org/donate. Or Hospice El Paso, 1440 Miracle Way, El Paso TX 79925.
