Catherine Ann Berry

Catherine Ann Berry, of El Paso, Texas, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 61, in Sierra Blanca, Texas on November 4, 2017. Katy was born on June 14, 1956 to the late Lawrence Paul and June Patricia Berry. She attended St. Joseph's Elementary and graduated from Loretto Academy in 1974. Katy obtained both her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from UTEP. She was employed as a kindergarten teacher at St. Raphael's Catholic school for 17 years. For the last 10 years, she has been a school counselor at YISD. She started her counseling career at Cadwallader Elementary. The past two years she has been with Ascarate Elementary, which is the school where she began her education career. She was a past member of the Junior League of El Paso and a current member of the ACTS Ministry and TPCA. Katy was the most generous and loving person. She had the biggest heart and never met a stranger. Katy loved to travel and spend huge amounts of time with family and friends. Everyone whose lives she influenced will miss her dearly. She is survived by her two daughters, Amy Guel (Jessiejohn) and Janell Duvall (Brian) as well as their father Fred Duvall III. Grandson, Jessiejohn Guel II; Brothers, Paul Berry Jr. (Jeanne); Patrick Berry (Beverly); Chris Berry (Tana), and Curtis Berry. Robert Newman and Newman Family as well as many nieces and nephews. Memorial gifts in Ms. Berry's memory can be made to the Animal Rescue League of El Paso, Humane Society of El Paso, or The El Paso Community Foundation. Katy's visitation will be on Friday November 10, 2017 at Hillcrest Funeral Home (1060 N. Carolina St.) from 5-9 pm. Rosary 7 pm. Her memorial mass at St. Raphael's Catholic Church (2310 Zanzibar) will take place on Saturday November 11, 2017 at 12 pm. Services are under the direction of Hillcrest Funeral Home 598-3332.
