I am the son of Earl Smith of Performance Jet Boat Manufacturing from slowdown Texas. I had known David since 1976-77. I spent most summers there at the boat shop and saw David many times a week for lunch. Also was with he and my dad at a hundred plus races over next 10+ years. He was always likeable and kept us laughing. I remember how ecstatic he was when he got married in early 80's and how elated he was with hi s daughter. I was sorry that I did not see him again after I was there with dad In mid 2000's. Sorry for your loss, I also had the loss of my dad Earle D Smith in Jan of 2018. Shyann, My beautiful daughter, I know you are still mourning but I know your daddy would want you to remember the blessed times you had together but I also know our Lord Jesus wants you to cast your worries on him and find the everlasting Peace that only he can give you.  No one can depend on MAN because, man will always let us down but our Lord Jesus will never leave you alone or forsake you. So very sorry about David's passing. I just heard about it. I knew david back in the 70's when we 1st got out of high school, we used to run together an remember his old Nova, going to the midnight drags.

Thank you all so much for your messages! You know my dad is smiling down knowing the great things you all have said about him. We miss you terribly daddy but the things you taught us will always be remember an we love you sooooo much!

Big Brother, Friend and all around great guy. You were wrough on the outside but a big softy on the inside. You are missed every day with love.
