Charles Henry Taylor, beloved father, brother, husband, and grandfather, passed away on July 7, 2026 at the age of 82. He was born in Brenham, TX on May 12, 1944 to Janie Wilson and Jake Taylor.
Charles dedicated much of his career to the Parks and Recreation Department for The City of El Paso. Through his work, he helped shape and care for the public spaces that so many families in El Paso came to enjoy, taking pride in creating places where the community could gather, play, and grow.
Charles volunteered his time through mentorship in coaching youth soccer for many years. He was a father figure to many in the Sun City.
Above all, Charles was known for his extraordinary generosity and kindness. He had a heart that was always open to others, quick to give of his time, his resources, and his encouragement to anyone in need. His warmth touched everyone who knew him — family, friends, coworkers, and strangers alike.
Charles was also a devoted Christian, whose faith guided him throughout his life. He carried his beliefs not just in words but in action, living out his faith through service, compassion, and love for others.
Charles is survived by his children, Christopher Taylor, Kai Taylor, Tamara Wright and Sean Taylor; his grandchildren, Kailen Taylor, Andre Clark, Shannaya Tiller, Eddie Wright III, Sydney Wright, Cameron Taylor and London Taylor; He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Lydia Taylor.
Charles will be remembered for his generous spirit, his steady kindness, and the quiet strength of his faith. He leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and devotion to his family and community.
Charles's memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Visitation will be held at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 North Carolina Dr., El Paso, Texas 79915, on July 29, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
We will be meeting at Hillcrest Funeral Home, July 30, 2026, at 9:00 am, then have a funeral procession together to the Graveside Service that will take place at Evergreen Cemetery East, 12400 East Montana, El Paso, Texas, 79938, US, on July 30, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
