It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charlie Claud Shane at the age of 94. Born on June 19, 1931, in St. Augustine, Texas, Charlie was the beloved son of Charlie Shane and Nona Gibson.
Charlie was a man of honor, courage, and unwavering faith. He was a graduate of the Oklahoma Military Academy in Claremore, Oklahoma. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, including distinguished service during the Vietnam War, where he received several commendations, including the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.
After retiring from the Army, Charlie pursued his passion, teaching automotive mechanics to high school students. He became a mentor to many of his students, teaching them a marketable trade. His knowledge and love of automotive mechanics were carried throughout his life. Charlie frequently dedicated his time to repairing vehicles for family, friends and strangers who were stranded on the side of the road.
Charlie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rosalia Margarita (Salazar) Shane. He is survived by his four children: None (Joe), Rita, Lisa, Chuck (Debi). His legacy continues through his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, he lived with humility and kindness always guided by his belief in God’s grace.
God looked around His garden, and He found an empty place. He then looked down upon the earth and saw your tired face. He put His arms around you and lifted you to rest. He closed your weary eyelids and whispered, “Peace be thine.”
Rest in peace Dad. Your memory will live on in our hearts forever.
