Born on May 6, 1954, in Merced, California, Cheryl lived a life rooted in love, resilience, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family. As a proud Deaf woman, she navigated life with remarkable strength and grace, touching countless lives through her compassion, perseverance, and generous heart. Her beautiful smile, infectious laughter, and quiet strength will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
Cheryl’s greatest joy was her family. She is lovingly survived by her children, Tamara Marquez, Justin Gastelum, and David Gastelum; her son-in-law, Gabriel Marquez; her cherished grandchildren, Melody Marquez, Stephanie Gastelum, and David Gastelum; her mother, Heather Morano; her sister, Valerie Albiston; along with extended family members and dear friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her father, Douglas Seamans.
To her daughter, Tamara, Cheryl was so much more than a mother. She was her greatest teacher, best friend, biggest supporter, and lifelong inspiration. Cheryl taught her daughter American Sign Language, unknowingly planting the seed for a life’s purpose dedicated to serving the Deaf community. Through Cheryl’s love, guidance, and example, a legacy of advocacy, communication, and inclusion was created that continues to impact countless lives every day.
Those who knew Cheryl knew her as someone whose love was unconditional and whose strength carried those around her through life’s most difficult moments. She had a remarkable ability to make others feel seen, understood, and deeply loved. Her legacy is not only found in the family she cherished but also in the kindness, compassion, and resilience she instilled in everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Although our hearts are broken by her passing, we find peace in knowing that her love will remain with us always. Her spirit lives on in every signed conversation, every family gathering, every shared memory, and every life she helped shape.
Funeral services honoring Cheryl’s life will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Crestview on Tuesday, June 30th, 2026 from 5:00PM to 9:00PM with a Celebration of Life at 7:00PM. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate a life beautifully lived and a woman who gave so much of herself to those she loved.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever in our hearts
