Clara Maude Sample Nugent

Clara was born on October 21, 1910 in Jasper, Missouri to Charles & Maude Sample. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years John O. Nugent, her sister Signa Hubbard and a brother George Sample. Clara is survived by her two daughters, Pamela Cozby in San Francisco, CA and Sharon and husband Bill Haraway in Harlingen, Texas; Four Grandchildren, Jonna Upson of Taylorsville, KY, Jennifer Hamilton of Austin, Texas, Drew Cozby of Tularosa, NM and Will Haraway of Harlingen, Texas; Four Great-Grandchildren; Colin Hamilton, Jack, John & Jillian Haraway. Two surviving brothers, Charles Sample of Yakima, WA and Ed Read of Paulsbo, WA.

Clara and John Nugent moved to Ysleta in 1946. Clara was a homemaker & active member of the Ysleta Baptist Church where she was the Director of the Children’s Nursery for twenty years. She was also a member of the Ysleta Women’s Club. They then moved to Horizon City in 1974 where she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Horizon City. Clara moved to Austin, Texas in 1995 and in 2006 moved to Louisville, Kentucky.

A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 8700 Dyer St.

Please join the family for a celebration of Clara’s life at Vista Hills Country Club after the burial.
