Consuelo H. Pasillas

Consuelo H. Pasillas was born in Torres Valparaiso, Zacatecas on May 30, 1939. For 87 years, she lived a life defined by unwavering devotion to her family, quiet strength, and steadfast love. She passed away on July 5, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, compassion, and a family who will forever cherish her memory.

One of the greatest blessings of Consuelo’s life began with a simple exchange of letters with Rogelio Pasillas. What started as handwritten letters between two young people grew into a love story built on patience, faith, and commitment. For nearly a year Consuelo and Rogelio wrote letters to one another before they ever built a life together. Within three months of the relationship, Rogelio knew he found the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. They married on April 23, 1960, beginning a marriage that would span 66 years and become the foundation of a family that continues to grow today.

That same year, Consuelo proudly became a United States citizen. In 1968, she made El Paso, Texas, her home, where she and Rogelio raised their family and created a home filled with love, hard work, and countless memories.

She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Veronica Arvizu, whose passing left a place in her heart that was never filled. Though she continued to care for those around her, she carried Veronica’s memory with her every day.

Consuelo is survived by her devoted husband, Rogelio Pasillas Sr.; her children, Rogelio Pasillas Jr. (Gloria), Oscar Pasillas Sr. (Sandra), Joel Pasillas Sr. (Jessica), and Hector Pasillas Sr. (Brenda); her grandchildren, Christian Arvizu, Brianna Arvizu, Jacqueline Pasillas, Rogelio M. Pasillas, Alejandra Pasillas (Alyssa), Oscar Pasillas II, Joel I. Pasillas, Jacob Pasillas, Jazmine Pasillas, Hector Pasillas Jr. (Mari), Audrey Pasillas, and Nathan Pasillas; and her great-grandchildren, Julian Arvizu and Veronica Arvizu.

Consuelo spent 18 years working at Farah Manufacturing, where she began as a cutter and learned the art of sewing. Although she eventually retired, sewing remained one of her greatest passions. She lovingly mended clothes for family and friends and found special joy in making clothing for her grandchildren—each stitch a quiet expression of her love and care.

Her greatest joy, however, was always her family. She loved them deeply and wholeheartedly, expressing that love through guidance, high expectations, and unwavering support. She believed that caring for those she loved meant helping them become their very best. Though she could be firm, every lesson, every expectation, and every sacrifice came from a place of profound love.

She found peace tending to her garden and took great pride in her flowers. Her home was one where no one left hungry. Whether family, friends, or someone visiting for the first time, she always made sure there was food on the table and never hesitated to offer a warm meal to anyone who walked through her door.

As the years passed, Consuelo’s gentle side became even more apparent, but one thing never changed—her unwavering love and pride for her family. Her family was her life’s greatest accomplishment and greatest blessing.

Her strength, honesty, resilience, and unconditional love will remain a part of each generation that follows. Although we must say goodbye, we find comfort in knowing that her love endures in all of us. Our beloved “Chelio,” our cherished “Chula,” will forever hold a special place in our hearts and will never be forgotten.

En Amorosa Memoria de Consuelo H. Pasillas

Consuelo H. Pasillas nació en Torres, Valparaíso, Zacatecas, el 30 de mayo de 1939. Durante 87 años vivió una vida definida por su inquebrantable dedicación a su familia, su fortaleza silenciosa y su amor incondicional. Falleció el 5 de julio de 2026, dejando un legado de resistencia, compasión y una familia que por siempre atesorará su memoria.

Una de las mayores bendiciones en la vida de Consuelo comenzó con un sencillo intercambio de cartas con Rogelio Pasillas. Lo que inició como cartas escritas a mano entre dos jóvenes se convirtió en una historia de amor cimentada en la paciencia, la fe y el compromiso. Durante casi un año, Consuelo y Rogelio se escribieron cartas antes de comenzar una vida juntos. A tan solo tres meses de haber iniciado su noviazgo, Rogelio supo que había encontrado a la mujer con quien quería compartir el resto de su vida. Contrajeron matrimonio el 23 de abril de 1960, iniciando una unión que perduró por 66 años y que se convirtió en el cimiento de una familia que continúa creciendo hasta el día de hoy.

Ese mismo año, Consuelo obtuvo con orgullo la ciudadanía estadounidense. En 1968 hizo de El Paso, Texas, su hogar, donde ella y Rogelio criaron a su familia y construyeron un hogar lleno de amor, trabajo arduo e innumerables recuerdos.

Fue precedida en la muerte por su amada hija, Veronica Arvizu, cuya partida dejó un vacío en su corazón que nunca pudo llenarse. Aun así, continuó cuidando de quienes la rodeaban, llevando siempre el recuerdo de Veronica en su corazón.

A Consuelo le sobreviven su amado esposo, Rogelio Pasillas Sr.; sus hijos, Rogelio Pasillas Jr. (Gloria), Oscar Pasillas Sr. (Sandra), Joel Pasillas Sr. (Jessica) y Hector Pasillas Sr. (Brenda); sus nietos, Christian Arvizu, Brianna Arvizu, Jacqueline Pasillas, Rogelio M. Pasillas, Alejandra Pasillas (Alyssa), Oscar Pasillas II, Joel I. Pasillas, Jacob Pasillas, Jazmine Pasillas, Hector Pasillas Jr. (Mari), Audrey Pasillas y Nathan Pasillas; así como sus bisnietos, Julian Arvizu y Veronica Arvizu.

Consuelo dedicó 18 años de su vida a trabajar en Farah Manufacturing, donde comenzó como cortadora de tela y aprendió el arte de la costura. Aunque con el tiempo se jubiló, coser siguió siendo una de sus mayores pasiones. Con cariño remendaba la ropa de familiares y amigos, y encontraba una alegría especial al confeccionar prendas para sus nietos; cada puntada era una silenciosa expresión de su amor y dedicación.

Sin embargo, su mayor alegría siempre fue su familia. Los amó profunda e incondicionalmente, demostrando ese amor a través de su guía, sus altas expectativas y su apoyo inquebrantable. Creía que cuidar de quienes amaba significaba ayudarlos a convertirse en la mejor versión de sí mismos. Aunque podía ser firme, cada enseñanza, cada expectativa y cada sacrificio nacían de un amor inmenso.

Encontraba paz al cuidar su jardín y sentía un profundo orgullo por sus flores. Su hogar era un lugar donde nadie se iba con hambre. Ya fueran familiares, amigos o alguien que la visitaba por primera vez, siempre se aseguraba de que hubiera comida en la mesa y nunca dudaba en ofrecer un plato caliente a quien cruzara la puerta de su casa.

Con el paso de los años, el lado más tierno de Consuelo se hizo aún más evidente, pero hubo algo que jamás cambió: el inmenso amor y orgullo que sentía por su familia. Ellos fueron el mayor logro y la mayor bendición de su vida.

Su fortaleza, honestidad, resiliencia y amor incondicional permanecerán vivos en cada generación que la siga. Aunque hoy debamos despedirnos de ella, encontramos consuelo al saber que su amor perdura en cada uno de nosotros. Nuestra querida "Chelio", nuestra amada "Chula", ocupará para siempre un lugar muy especial en nuestros corazones y jamás será olvidada.

Visitation will be held at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 North Carolina Drive, El Paso, TX 79915, US, on July 17, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a Rosary at the same location on July 17, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

A Funeral Mass will take place at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 7712 Rosedale St, El Paso, Texas 79915, on July 18, 2026, from 8:30 am to 9:30 am, followed by a Committal Service at Mount Carmel Cemetery, 401 S Zaragoza Rd, El Paso, Texas 79907, on July 18, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
