Coy A. Hackett

Coy Hackett passed away Sunday April 22, 2012. He was born June 10, 1941 to James and Bessie Hackett. Coy and his parents were the original owners of the Art Center prior to his working for Helena Chemical Company for 30 years. He lived on his small farm near Anthony, NM for almost 40 years where he grew apples, pears, pecans, and later alfalfa. Coy always loved to travel and explore the west in his camping trailer. Among his favorites were the Gila Wilderness and Lake Buchanan, TX. He had hoped to visit civil war battlegrounds and the New England states for the fall colors, but was unable to make this last trip. Kind-hearted, helpful, and good friend are words that describe Coy. He had a good eye for art and collected it throughout his lifetime. His other interests included stock-car racing in his younger years, a love of history, all things western and collecting antiques.

Coy was preceded in death by his parents James and Bessie Hackett and sister Iva Dee Pustelniak. He is survived by daughters Kimberly Hackett, Tiffiny Smalley (J.T.), Noelle Jaco (Josh), and son Curtis Hackett. He also leaves behind two nieces Denise Pustelniak and Dawn Ross (Dennis), and nephew Richard Pustelniak (Heidi), six grandchildren Raini Chase, Mason Hackett, Tyler Smalley, Travis Smalley, Reagan Jaco, and Riley Jaco, and ex-wife Pamela Hackett.

Friends are invited to join the family in sharing memories of Coy in a Celebration of Life memorial on Friday May 4, 2012 at 11:00 am at Kastor Maxon & Futrell, 8817 Dyer Street, El Paso, TX. The celebration will continue at Ardovino’s Desert Crossing, 1 Ardovino Drive, Sunland Park, NM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mesilla Valley Hospice of Las Cruces, NM.
