Mr. David Elias Assi

David Elias Assi passed peacefully in his sleep on July 31, 2010 at the age of 76 years old. He was born on January 29, 1934 in Mexico to Issa and Salfa Elias-Assi. The family moved from Mexico to El Paso in 1945 where David attended Morehead Elementary School and graduated from El Paso High in 1952. He enlisted in the Army for two years and attended Texas Western where he received a BA degree in Business and a Masters of Education in Administration. He taught school at San Jancinto, Roosevelt, and was assistant principal at Zavala. He was principal of Beall Elementary from 1973 until he retired in 1991. He married Susan Norain in 1977. David is survived by his wife of thirty three years, Susan; his sisters Jamell Bettor and Waded Esper and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Issa and Salfa Elias-Assi, his brother Nadim Assi and his sisters Nadima Assi and Nabiha Mahfood. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with Trisagion at 7:00 PM at Martin Funeral Home West. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 officiated by Reverend Father George M. Al-Dehneh @ 10:00 AM @ St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 120 N. Festival Drive. Interment to follow at Memory Gardens of The Valley. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. George Building Fund. Services entrusted to Martin Funeral Home West, 128 N.
