It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Alvin Green, devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and proud U.S. Army veteran, who passed away on April 30, 2025, at the age of 90.
David was born on April 26, 1935 in Midway, Kentucky, the fourth of 9 children born to Jesse James Green and Sallie Carter Green. David joined the U.S. Army at the age of 17 and honorably served his country for 20 years dedicating his life to the values of duty, honor, and service. David chose to retire from the military in El Paso, Texas where he remained until his death. David earned his Bachelor’s Degree and had a second career as a property manager for the El Paso National Bank system. David was a huge University of Kentucky Wildcats fan, an avid golfer and coached Bobby Sox softball for many years.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Alma Green; by his sisters Betty Sowers and Charlene Harmon; by his children Sonya Anton (George), and Phillip Green (Marsha). His legacy includes his grandchildren Jason Anton (Sarah), Nathan Anton (Sarah), Justin Anton (Bree), and Joy Green; and by his great grandchildren Ryker, Aurora and Emmaline — each of whom brought him immense pride and joy.
He will be remembered for his kindness, humility, generosity, and love for his family. His legacy of love and dedication will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever. Rest in peace, David. Your service, your love, and your memory will never be forgotten.
Graveside service will be held Friday, May 9, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave, El Paso, TX 79906.
