David Jones

father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

David departed this life on December 24, 2024, at the age of 79, surrounded by his loving family. David was born on February 25, 1945, in El Paso, Texas, to Sam and Silveria Jones. A proud graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, he went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Navy. Following his naval service, David continued his dedication to hard work and loyalty through a long career at Phelps Dodge and later with Civil Service at Fort Bliss, retiring after 34 years of exemplary service.

David is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Maria Jones; their three children, Yvonne (Max), David, and Jason (Jeremy); his grandchildren, David III, Staci, and Lauren (Jerry); and his great-grandchildren, Damien and Bear Jones. He is also survived by his brothers Ruben and Sam Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Oscar Jones.

David will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his country, and the New York Yankees. He found joy in tending to his yard, playing softball, and taking long walks with his cherished dog, Molly. His sense of humor and dedication touched all who knew him.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home East. A graveside service will follow on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.

David’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him. May he rest in peace.
