David Matthew “Matteo” Martinez April 29, 1971 – May 27, 2026 David Matthew “Matteo” Martinez, 55, passed away on May 27, 2026, after a courageous and unrelenting battle with cancer. Matt was a talented vocalist and had a true passion for music. He shared his gifts by performing in numerous bands throughout the years and fully dedicating himself to the El Paso music scene. As owner of RockHouse, he fulfilled his vision to build a space for all music, leaving a profound impact both locally and regionally.  Matt brought countless bands to his venues and made many friends while doing what he loved —listening, creating and laughing. Above all, Matt was a devoted father, son, husband, brother, and grandfather. He cherished his family and was a proud girl dad. He was a fierce protector, with the kindest of hearts. His steadfast love echoes in every memory…proving time and time again that what is done in love, is done well. Matt is survived by his wife, Marci; his daughters, Kassandra, Alexis, and Lauryn; his father David Martinez; his siblings Michelle and Jason, his grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Kathleen Martinez. Matt will be remembered for his indomitable strength, kindness, love of music, and the everlasting adoration he had for his family, many friends, and community.  We do not weep because the song ended. We smile because it is played so beautifully in our hearts…living in the people he loved. Let the music play on. 

A Gathering will be held at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 North Carolina Dr., El Paso, Texas 79915, on June 15, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
