

David B Minton, aged 78, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2026 in El Paso TX, in the presence of his loved ones. He was born April 15, 1948 to Rhuben W Minton and Irene E Koonce-Minton, in Washington DC. The family moved several times, including living in Japan for a period of time, before settling into the El Paso area when his father was stationed here with the US Army.
David attended Burgess High School, then was drafted into the Army, where he served for 2 years, including a tour in Vietnam. After completing his service, David worked for the El Paso Natural Gas Company for 23 years as an accountant.
David was passionate about music, opening his own store Galaxy Music in the early 1990’s, as well as running a mail order catalogue of electronic musicians and European imports. He volunteered for the local jazz station KXCR for several years, assisting in the production of their annual Jazz Fests. David worked as an accounting Manager for the Las Cruces Sun News, retiring in 2009.
David was active in both the El Paso Corvette Club, founding the Phantom Vetts club, and happily participated in local and regional events throughout the Southwest. He was also an avid quiltmaker, donating quilts to the Wounded Warrior Project; often completing as many as 20 quilts per year.
David is survived by his wife of 54 years Rebecca, sons John and Aaron Minton, and daughter Sherry Tennison, including 12 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. He was loved by all, and will be deeply missed.
Funeral Services and Burial at the Vietnam War Memorial in Angel Fire, NM, will be held at a later date.
