It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Dionicio G. Villalobos, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend. Known throughout the valley by many as “Nicho,” he passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024, at the age of 92.
Born on April 8, 1932, in Vado, New Mexico, he was preceded in death by his cherished parents, Juan and Soledad Villalobos; siblings, Santos Regalado, Jose G. Villalobos, Delfina Fierro, Franscisco G. Villalobos, Lorenzo G. Villalobos, and Manuel G. Villalobos. Surviving siblings include Nicholas G. Villalobos, Armando G. Villalobos, Linda Carreon, and Lupe Miramontes.
A proud veteran, Nicho was a staff sergeant of the U.S. Army, serving his country honorably during the Korean Conflict from 1948 to 1952. He later continued his service as a charter member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 4384 in Anthony, New Mexico, where he continued to form lifelong friendships.
Nicho devoted decades of hard work to his craft as a plumber, who then became the owner of Central Plumbing and Heating for over 50 years as a reliable and familiar face throughout the valley. His unwavering work ethic and commitment to helping others earned him the respect and gratitude of countless families and businesses.
Nicho leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter to his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Celia; his children, Albert (Patrisia) Villalobos, David (Nancy) Villalobos, Patsy Villalobos, and Marcos D. Villalobos; his grandchildren, Aaron Matthew Villalobos, Priscilla (Cedric) Patterson, Pamela Guerra, Georgie Guerra, Pauly Guerra, Erica (Javier) Silva, David Villalobos Jr., Erandi (Ismael G.) Villalobos, and Tatyanna Villalobos; his great-grandchildren, Nadia Hermosillo, Melody L. Tellez, Brooklyn F. Tellez, Adalina R. Guerra, Maddox P. Guerra, Katt S. Guerra, Julianna R. Silva, and Xavier I. Gonzalez. He also leaves behind a number of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss him deeply.
Funeral services are to be held on January 9, 2025, with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Anthony, New Mexico, with a one-day service, including the rosary at 10:30 a.m., and funeral mass to follow. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during this time. A burial with military honors will follow at the Anthony Cemetery in Anthony, New Mexico. The family would love to invite all family and friends to gather at the VFW Post in Anthony following the services for one last gathering for our beloved Nicho.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are David Villalobos Jr., Georgie Guerra, Pauly Guerra, Aaron Matthew Villalobos, Larry Sanchez, and Ismael Gonzalez Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Regalado, Sigi Sanchez, Pamela Guerra, Erandi Villalobos, and Tatyanna Villalobos.
Nicho was a trusted and familiar face in our community. His quick wit, charismatic personality, and unparalleled sense of humor made him a joy to be around, whether fixing a pipe or sharing life stories with family and friends. Nicho's humor, jokes, and heart touched everyone who knew him. He made the funniest faces, was a notorious bilingual punster, and constantly came up with nicknames for family, friends, and others. His favorites being “Hi Guy” and “Coco.” His absence leaves a void, but his legacy will live on in the stories we share and the laughter he inspired. You will be missed, Guy, 10-4 In and Out…
A visitation for Nicho will be held Thursday, January 9, 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Saint Anthony's Catholic Church, 224 Lincoln St, Anthony, NM 88021.
