Doris Ellen Gallagher Thompson

Doris Ellen Gallagher Thompson passed away June 4, 2010. She was born in Clinton, N.C. in 1927 and is survived by her brother, James Gallagher and family, her sister, Delsey Norris, and family, and her husband, Rod Thompson. After moving to El Paso in the early 1950's, she opened a travel agency in the Cortez Hotel which she sold to Buck Rogers, managed it until his death, then re-purchased it, named it Professional Travel Service and operated it until her death. Doris was very active in the community, serving as President of Soroptimist of El Paso, the American Business Women of America, was woman of the year and served as an officer in Discover El Paso, was active in the El Paso Chamber of Commerce and the Sun Bowl Welcoming Committee, and enjoyed The Del Norte Club. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Martin Funeral Home West. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 12:00 PM at Martin Funeral Home West. A private inurnment will be held by the family at a later date.
