Duane R. Gerdes

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Jacquie, his children, Terri, Denise, Amy, and Bruce and his nine grandchildren.

Duane was born in Wall Lake, Iowa. He served in the United States Army before beginning a thirty year career as a Field Engineer with Hughes Aircraft. After retiring, he began his own business, Collegiate Creations, where he met and made many friends in El Paso. He was an avid Nascar fan and enjoyed many years of camping and fishing. His memories will remain in our hearts, and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

We would like to sincerely thank all those in the ICU, CCU and Telemetry Units at Providence Memorial Hospital for their dedicated care for our father.

The Gerdes Family will receive friends on Sunday, August 14, 2011 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Martin East Funeral Home with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 15, 2011 at 9:45 am at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at 11:00 am at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
