Dyson O’Connor born December 19th, 1979 age 46 of El Paso, TX passed away on October 11th, 2026.
Some people leave the world much as they found it. Others leave it better simply because they were here. He was one of the latter.
He was the most honorable and kind person we have ever known. The sort of man who held doors for strangers, gave up his seat without a second thought, and treated others with dignity. He saw the good in people, stood up for those who needed a voice, and believed compassion should extend to every living creature.
Service was a defining thread throughout his life. He served two tours in Iraq with the United States Air Force, then dedicated 15 years to the United States Postal Service, carrying out his work with the same steadfast sense of duty that had guided him in uniform. In his final five years, he found another way to serve, protecting animals at El Paso Animal Services. A protector by nature, his life was a testament to the belief that service is not simply what we do, but who we choose to be.
Beyond his service, he was a man of wit, humor, and many talents. Music was a passion he carried with him, from playing guitar, bass, and keyboard to performing in bands in his younger years. He had a knack for figuring things out and a talent for just about anything he set his mind to. He loved a good concert, the magic of a movie on the big screen, and, above all, bringing laughter to the people around him. He had a way with words and a sense of humor that made time spent with him something special.
He taught us what it meant to be a decent human being, not through grand speeches, but through the way he lived. His goodness needed no spotlight, and his kindness asked for nothing in return. He leaves behind a legacy not measured in accolades, but in the lives he touched, the animals he protected, the laughter he inspired, and the example he set.
He is survived by his parents, siblings, nieces, his life long love, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, and loyal four-legged companions.
We will be hosting a celebration of life at Del Angel Funeral Home 8817 Dyer St, El Paso, TX 79904 on Wednesday, October 28th from 2-5pm.
Perhaps the greatest tribute to him is to carry his goodness forward; to stand up for the voiceless, treat others with respect, find humor in life’s absurdities, and do the right thing even when no one is watching.
The curtain may fall and the music may fade, but a life like his leaves an echo that time cannot silence. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
