Our beloved Elias Campos Sr., 96, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 27, 2021 at his home in El Paso surrounded by his family. Elias was born on July 20th 1924 to the late Enrique Campos and Ramona Maldonado in El Paso TX. The 3rd oldest of 5 children. He was drafted from Bowie High School in 1943. Elias served in the Army in WWII as a medic until 1946. After graduating from Texas Western College in 1951 Elias began a 35-year long career as a high school teacher/coach. He was actively involved in the Bowie 49’s Club for several years, and thoroughly enjoyed sports, especially football and golf, as well as reading books and the daily newspaper. In addition, Elias loved to spend time with his family, students, and friends. He also enjoyed his regular morning chats with the servers at the local café which he frequented for several years after the love of his life passed away. Elias was a loving father and faithful husband to his one and only wife Evangelina Lagunas whom he married in 1951. Elias is survived by 2 sons, Joseph and Jim ,4 grandchildren 11 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and numerous nephew and nieces. Elias was preceded in death by his wife Eva eldest son Elias Jr.
