Elizabeth J. Bissell

Elizabeth "Betty" Jean Bahm Bissell, known for her nurturing spirit, entrepreneurial drive, love for nature, penchant for practical jokes, always perfect hair and impeccable sense of style, passed away peacefully on April 1st, 2024, at the age of 97. Born on April 26th, 1926, Betty grew up on her family’s farm in Gilbert, Arizona, instilling in her a strong connection to the land—and a lifelong love for gardening. She had a fulfilling career as an elementary school teacher, leaving a lasting impact on her students. Outside of teaching, Betty was a savvy businesswoman. She continued her husband's real estate legacy and built her own successful business through hard work and determination. Betty found solace in gardening, treating her plants and flowers like her own children and creating a beautiful garden sanctuary for her family. She enjoyed challenging herself with jigsaw puzzles and card games—chiefly Pinochle, Canasta, dominos, Kings-in-the-corner, Hearts & Spades—often displaying a competitive streak. Known for her love of chocolates, shared sweets and laughter, Betty's practical jokes, quick smile, and quicker wit brought joy to those around her. Her dogs held a special place in her heart, and she showered them with love and affection. Betty will be deeply missed by her loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, generosity, and a passion for life. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—who all agree—almost 98 years wasn't nearly long enough. She will forever be missed by those lucky enough to have known her. ” 

She is survived by her children, Sharon Bissell Fearnow and Ronald Lee Bissell; grandchildren: Pamela Cartagena, Kellie Elizabeth McCarthy Frederick (husband, Mike), Scott Fearnow (wife, Ashlie), Lauren Nicole Bissell; and great-grandchildren: Maya, Benjamin, Mikaela, Jack, Genevieve, Sofie, and Betty and many other loving friends and family members.

Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 pm, located at Martin Funeral Home East 1460 George Dieter El Paso, Tx 79936.
