Elvira Gutierrez , 71, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 21, 2017. She was born January 28, 1946 in Santiago Papasquiaro, Durango to Manuel and Nicolasa Salazar. Elvira is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Felipe Gutierrez Jr. ; daughters, Alma Acosta and husband Oscar Acosta; Laura Gutierrez and husband Gonzalo Moreno; Carmen Imai and husband Andrew Imai; beloved grandchildren, Joshua Acosta, Alyssa Acosta, Andrea Imai, and Amanda Imai; siblings: Lucia Romero, Fernando Salazar, Manuel Salazar and Margarita Anklam. She is preceded in death by her son, Daniel Gutierrez. Elvira was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who loved spending time with her family, traveling, enjoying her beautiful garden, and cooking the best Chile Rellenos. Family and friends will always treasure her kind and generous spirit. You will be missed every moment of our lives. Your presence continues to surround us as you will always live in the hearts and mind of the loving family you left behind. Visitation will be from 5:00pm – 9:00pm on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Hillcrest Funeral Home-Carolina with a Vigil at 7:00pm. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Santa Lucia Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
