Elvira Lopez Memorial

Elvira was born on 12/22/26 to Juan and Esther Martinez. She was the last survivor of her maternal family as brother John F. Martinez, sisters Mary E. Armenta and Jessie Chavez have preceded her in passing, as did Juan and Esther. Vera was the youngest child and grew up in the life of migrant working families in the central San Joaquin valley of California. As WW2 started they moved to Los Angeles and she became a textile worker where she met friends and happiness. Vera loved her new extended brothers, Frank Armenta, Danny Chavez, and new sister Dorothy Martinez, and they loved her.

She was very happy in LA. Asthmatic issues moved her to El Paso where she met her husband to be in the late 1940's. They were wed in 1950. She met and embraced more family in Pepa, Silverio, Zeke, Rudy, and Elvira. Vera was dedicated to bettering the life of her new family and endured the pleasures and pains of life, where she showed her true strength. She was very smart and had a great passion for knowledge, which her dad had instilled in her. A passion that she transcended into her children. She did everything; PTA, school room assistant, cut grass, mended clothes, amongst all the other things. She will be sorely missed, but we know she has done her deeds.

Vera is survived by: her daughter Linda, husband Ray (deceased) ,grandson Ray Ill, granddaughter Ceci, her son Richard Jr., his wife Nancy, grandsons Nicholas, Gabriel (deceased), step daughter Olga, her husband Ivan and grandsons Andy and Mark.

In the grand words of the Beatles "Let it be".
